Strawberry Star Group conducted a seminar on taxes applicable in the UK property market for the benefit of overseas investors and others at our Hong Kong office on March 4, 2016.

The informative session comes in the wake of several changes in the UK taxation system involving the entire property market value chain. The taxes, in particular, for home-buyers in London, vary and it is imperative that the stakeholders are aware of them.

Our guest speaker Mr. Martin Rimmer, Tax Manager, The Fry Group, engaged with participants at the seminar, providing them with interesting insights from the UK market perspective. Mrs. Doris Tan, Strawberry Star Regional Director (Singapore & Hong Kong) provided insights into the UK market from the Asian perspective. She emphasized on the taxes applicable to new home buyers as well as second home buyers in the UK market.

The two distinguished speakers also elaborated on the latest changes in the tax laws, as outlined in the Autumn Statement, for foreign home-buyers in London. In addition to these, the seminar covered a wide range of topics, such as Capital Gains Taxes and Stamp Duty. The seminar ended with a Q&A session involving the participants.
