Strawberry Star Group supported the Mandela Mile initiative by UN Association in Luton on 18th July on the occasion of UN Mandela Day.

An independent initiative, led by Vinod Tailor, Non-Executive Director, Strawberry Star Group, it was for the first time that UN Mandela Day was observed in Luton. Every year on Mandela Day, Mandela Mile invites people everywhere to showcase their leadership and continue the South African leader Nelson Mandela’s long walk to freedom by stepping up publicly for peace, health, justice and equality in their community.

Nazia Khanum, Chair, UN Association of Luton, led the Mandela Mile walk. Commenting on the initiative, Vinod Tailor, said, “When everyone is prepared to go the extra mile for peace, justice, health and equality, together we can go the distance for a more peaceful, freer and fairer world.”

Maria Lovell, Deputy Mayor of Luton and Meryl Dolling, High Sheriff of Bedfordshire were among those who had gathered to celebrate the legacy of Nelson Mandela.
